A new $101.7 million, 115,000 SF, SB 1022 funded project designed and constructed adjacent to the current North Annex Jail. The facility consists of three floors, two of which have mezzanines and a partial basement with tunnel connection to the existing North Annex Jail. The 300-bed jail includes program offices for the Department of Behavioral Health, Sheriff’s Inmate Programs and out of custody programs and treatment rooms, as well as video visitation, laundry, storage and receiving. The close proximity to the existing North Annex Jail presented special logistical challenges in maintaining 24/7 jail operations and a quiet courtroom environment during construction. The project also incorporates the upgrade of the existing central plant.
